In-Town
Teams - Fall 2008
The
Middleboro Youth
Soccer Association
In-Town program
is a recreational
and educational
structured soccer
program for kids
ages 4 1/2 - 13
years old (Mites,
Under
8, Under
10 & Under
13). We are
dedicated to teaching
players the basic
skills of the game,
as well as sportsmanship
and teamwork. Children
are grouped by age,
placed on co-ed
teams and coached
by licensed coaches.
All teams are sponsored
by local businesses
and players receive
a uniform shirt
with the sponsor's
logo and a number.
Players are required
to wear shin guards
which are NOT provided
by the league but
can be purchased
locally at very
little cost. All
games are played
at the Healey Complex
located at 1 Nye's
Way off of Purchase
St. (check the FIELDS
page for directions).
Play-Up
Guidelines
In the Spring the
Mites division play
on Saturday mornings
with divisions U8+
playing on Sunday
afternoon. In the
Fall all divsions
play on Saturday.
Mites
Children ages 4
1/2 - 6 years old
play on non-competitive
teams. MYSA provides
specialized training
for this very important
period in a child's
athletic development.
Professional coaches,
known as PDOs (Professional
Development Officers),
are hired from the
Massachussetts Premier
Soccer School of
Excellence program.
The PDOs come from
all over Europe
and the U.S. They
will work with mites
players and their
coaches on age specific
skills training
and games. Each
player is required
to have shin guards
and a size 4 ball.
Under
8
Children ages 6
- 8 years old play
on slightly more
structured teams
in competitive recreational
play. Players are
assigned to a co-ed
team and receive
a uniform shirt
with a logo and
their number. Teams
are coached by licensed
coaches and generally
have one practice
of 60 minutes during
the week. At this
age children learn
more about structured
team play. All players
receive equal playing
times and focus
is on education,
not winning. Each
player is required
to have shin guards
and a size 4 ball.
Under
10
Children ages 8
- 10 years old continue
to improve their
basic skills and
begin to hone more
advanced skills
including positioning
and field tactics.
Players are assigned
to balanced, co-ed
teams coached by
licensed coaches.

have one practice
per week. All players

Under
13
Children ages 10

in a fun oriented
environment. Depending
on registration
numbers, this age

in several different
ways from 4v4 to
8v8. Players are
