Fall Season Information:
—Opening Day: September 14, 2019—
Please read the information below to get a better idea of what to expect for this fall.
Most importantly, registration is still open for in-town. We would love to get as many kids playing soccer as possible, so please encourage a friend or neighbor to join!
OPENING DAY is 9/14/19. OPENING DAY will consist of a meet and greet, fun activities, and an introduction to soccer, coaches, etc (all ages). Pre-K and K players will receive their start times on Sunday, September 8 for the first day. Grade 1 and 2 players should arrive for noon. Grade 3 and 4 players should arrive at 10:30.
CLOSING DAY is 11/2/19. If we have bad weather, we can extend the season to 11/9/18.
LOCATION: PURCHASE STREET FIELDS, at approximately 211 Purchase Street, Middleboro, MA.
What to Wear & Bring
UNIFORM SHIRTS are included in the registration fee and will be handed out before the first games on 9/21. Players should bring comfortable shorts or sweatpants, sneakers or soccer cleats (no softball or baseball cleats please), a water bottle, and a size 4 soccer ball. Due to the difficulty of makeup dates, we try to hold sessions unless the weather is very bad or unsafe—so a rain jacket, warm sweatshirt etc, might be needed on certain days.
First Time with MYSA? No Problem.
For newcomers, here is how the program works:
PRE-K and K
Update: We will host ALL Pre-K and K players at 9am at the purchase street fields this coming Saturday. During our first session, while the kids work with Coach Denis and Coach Glen, we will take this time to speak with parents interested in helping coach, discuss CORI requirements, etc. After the first week, we will set players on their respective team rosters and establish the time schedules (half of the players will meet at 9am every week, and half will meet at 10:30 every week).
If you're interested in coaching, please be sure to speak with one of the MYSA board members on site this weekend, and we'll get you started!
We've got a terrific Player Development Officer, Denis Cutler, who has been working with us for years. He's excellent with the kids. He leads both sessions (9:00am and 10:30am), and has a gift working with young kids and teaching them about the game.
There are no practices at this age level - we simply get together on Saturday mornings and have a blast.
Your child should be enrolled in a Pre-K program at a local school/church/daycare etc.
We rely on parents to volunteer as "coaches" at this level. Denis will lead the entire session; the coach's job at this level is simply to help keep the kids engaged, in the right place, and feeling comfortable. If you are interested in coaching, please let us know by responding to this email with your name, your child's name, and your contact information. A CORI check will be required in order to help out.
If you would like to help, please fill out the volunteer form on this page.
GRADES 1/2 and 3/4
Teams typically practice 1-2 days per week and play games on Saturdays.
Game schedule: Grades 1-2: noon every Saturday. Grades 3-4: Games at 9am and 10:30am, rotating, based on number of teams.
Coaching at this level is nearly 100% dependent on parent volunteers. You do not need soccer or coaching experience to coach a team. This year, we are instituting a support and mentoring program for new coaches to help get acquainted with the game, working with kids, etc. Please consider coaching! A CORI check will be required in order to help out.
For third and fourth graders, we also have a travel program that you can participate in if your soccer players prefer.
